Incidence: Data on new cancer cases in Belgium are collected by the Belgian Cancer Registry (BCR). For the current study, we selected 80 ICD-10 (C00.0-96.9 and chronic myeloid neoplasms) codes resulting in 57 cancer sites. Data were extracted by year (from 2004 to 2021), age group (5-years), sex and region (N=3). We excluded "Respiratory system and intrathoracic organs, NOS (not otherwise specified)" from further analyses because of too few cases.

Dataset

This dataset contains data from 2001 with estimates of the Belgian Index of multiple deprivation (BIMD) by statistical sector. The BIMD provides a multidimensional view on social deprivation in Belgium, integrating 6 domains - education, employment, income, housing, crime, and health. It provides a robust basis for assessing social inequalities in health and other outcomes. The BIMD is a relative measure of deprivation, and is computed at the level of the statistical sector, the smallest administrative level in Belgium.

Belgian National Burden of Disease Study Estimates of the fatal burden of disease Causes of death Our estimates are based on the official causes of death database compiled by Statbel. We first map the ICD-10 codes of the underlying causes of death to the Global Burden of Disease cause list, consisting of 131 unique causes of deaths. Next, we perform a probabilistic redistribution of ill-defined deaths to specific causes, to obtain a specific cause of death for each deceased person.

This dataset contains data from 2001 with estimates of the Belgian Index of multiple deprivation (BIMD) by municipality.

Belgian National Burden of Disease Study Estimates of the attributable burden of disease Our results build on the estimates of causes of death from the Belgian National Burden of Disease Study and apply comparative risk assessment to estimate the proportion of that burden due to risk factors. Population attributable fraction Based on the estimated level of exposure and the associated health risk, a population attributable fraction (PAF) is calculated. The PAF is the proportion of the disease burden that is caused by exposure to the risk factor.

The national wastewater-based epidemiological surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 monitors the SARS-CoV-2 presence in several wastewater treatment plants across Belgium. This dataset contains the results per treatment plant since the beginning of the surveillance in September 2020. The results consist in the SARS-CoV2 concentrations over time as well as other data needed for the interpretations such as the flow rates of the treatment plants and their covering populations.
