Since October 2002, Sciensano’s Epidemiology of infectious diseases department has coordinated since the surveillance network PediSurv. Approximately 350 clinicians (pediatricians in Belgium and general practitioners in Brussels) participate voluntary in the network and collect monthly demographic, clinical and microbiological data from a series of severe and/or rare infectious diseases in children <15 years of age. This dataset is a register of mumps cases.
Strains and associated metadata from patients with Salmonella and Shigella infections, voluntarely submitted to the NRC (85% estamated coverage). Metadata includes client info and patient info (sex, age, gender, postcal code, antibiotic treatment, clinical outcome, travel history), and information on the result of the strain typing (serotype, antimicrobial resistance).
The Central Biobank Platform Sciensano provides support to the Sciensano Biobank modules (and their professional, medical managers). These Sciensano biobanks, defined with different aims and activities, are available to Sciensano internal as well as external scientists for registering human body material sample collections to be used in research studies. After registration, samples can be stored in a biobank, typically with donor informed consent, and made available for (re-)use in scientific research, approved by an ethics committee.

Monitoring of HIV viral load is performed by the seven Belgian AIDS Reference Laboratories (ARL). Since 2006 they report the viral load of all people living with HIV in Belgium in a national registry. The purpose of the data processing and analysis is to describe the evolution of the epidemic of HIV and AIDS in Belgium. The data allows to describe the epidemiological profile of patients over time and the risks associated with the infection. The publication of statistical results contribute significantly to decision making and development of prevention campaigns.
This dataset contains information on individuals who have received COVID-19 vaccine doses, including both initial vaccinations and any subsequent revaccinations. The data is organised by the date of vaccination, geographical region, age groups, gender, and the specific brand of the COVID-19 vaccine administered.
